At Liter of Light, people are empowered to combat energy poverty with sustainable solutions. This initiative teaches vulnerable communities, leaders, and volunteers to create solar lights and mobile chargers from local materials like plastic bottles and bamboo. These hand-assembled lights provide green jobs and reduce carbon emissions. Liter of Light efforts have impacted a million people annually in 32 countries since 2013, training over 600 women cooperatives and thousands of volunteers.

This initiative has built world-record solar artworks, engaging thousands in the Middle East and North Africa region and distributing the lights to needy villages. Liter of Light model fosters local ownership, creating microentrepreneurs who empower their communities and replicate our success globally. Through community engagement, clean energy adoption is adopted, enhancing productivity and reducing carbon-related diseases. The “Light It Forward” campaign during the pandemic only empowered 100,000 individuals with solar lights, highlighting the commitment to sustainable development and public engagement.
