Maria Vassilakou is an urban leader focused on sustainable, inclusive, and climate-friendly city transformation.
She served as Vice Mayor of Vienna (2010–2019), responsible for urban planning, transport, climate protection, energy, and public participation, leading major transformation projects that contributed to Vienna’s top rankings in global livability indices.
She now works internationally as an independent advisor on urban transformation and is founder of Vienna Solutions, a network of urban experts.
Since 2019, she has also been a member of the EU Horizon Mission Board for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.
